The Joy of Dog Walking in Islington

dog walking islingtonDog walking in Islington is a joy though it can be challenging because the council makes it difficult to use many of the borough’s green spaces.

Cats, Dogs & Peace of Mind (CDPOM) has been walking dogs in the area since 1999 and our pet carers know their way around.

The largest park is the one at Highbury Fields. Pooches of all sizes love it there because there is so much space to stretch their legs. #

What bliss it is for your dog to be able to run free – if that’s what you want for your pet.

Even if you would prefer your dog to be kept on the lead, the pet carers who work for Cats, Dogs & Peace of Mind in Islington can roam across the expanse of fields that extend across 11.75 hectares.

Dog Walking Restrictions in Islington

This is important in this part of North London where there are a lot of restrictions stopping dogs from being walked in some of Islington’s other open spaces. Nobody likes an £80 fine just for exercising a pooch.

But there are other fun spaces where CDPOM pet carers like to take your dogs. These include Barnard Park. It is a perfect place for a game of ball or Frisbee. It may be just a small green space in the centre of London, but this is pawfect for pets of all sizes and temperaments.

Another favourite with the dogs we walk is Duncan Terrace Gardens in Angel. Why? Because there are so many pigeons to chase.

One of our favourites is King Square Gardens. It’s a Site of Local Importance to Nature Conservation. And, if you are of a certain age you might recognise it. The park is featured in an opening scene in the video of Pink Floyd’s song Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 from 1979.

Parks for Dog Walking in Islington

There is a useful closed grassy field for dog walking and what is probably the largest sandy area in the region. We love it because there is park staff on hand who are always there to answer any questions and inquiries.

If you’re looking for a scenic dog walk and live in Islington, Mile End Park is only a 45-minute train ride away. The gardens are beautiful and the lakes here make this an absolute gem to explore with your dog. People have been known to pack a picnic and make a memorable day of it!
