About us

What makes CDPOM stand out?

Unlike many pet sitters and visitors, Cats, Dogs & Peace of Mind carers are all fully insured and security vetted by the Metropolitan Police.

Every member of the CDPOM team is bonded by a public liability insurance policy recognised by the British Security Industry Association.

What services do you offer?

Cats, Dogs & Peace of Mind has been providing fully-insured, thorough, professional and loving care for dogs, cats, chinchillas, rabbits, Guinea pigs and all manner of other pets in their own homes while their owners are away or simply too busy since 1999.

Our security-vetted carers can either visit your pets or stay in your home.

We offer dog walking, dog training, cat cuddling, fish feeding etc. in and around homes throughout most of London - north, south, east and west. We are also experienced in applying medication to your animals and accompanying them to the vet if required.

How does your pet sitting service work?

As well as our long-running, home-visiting service Cats, Dogs & Peace of Mind is also able to provide a London-wide, live-in service to look after your pets and your home while you’re away, or simply too busy!

You may be on holiday, having a short break or a long hospital stay or you may be away on business. What we offer is peace of mind.

When our carers house sit and pet sit they watch over your dogs, cats or other pets as well as your home, property and possessions.

When our carers house and pet sit they watch over your dogs, cats or other pets as well as your home, property and possessions.

The presence of one of our security-vetted, fully insured carers living in your home ensures enhanced security. Our tailor-made services are designed to suit your requirements.
With this in mind we have three types of service:

Daycare, which covers eight hours during daytime where the carer either stays in the customer’s home or takes the pet/pets out and exercises them.

Overnight stays, which cover a minimum 24-hour period where the carer stays in the customer’s home and looks after the pet/pets and home as the customer would if he/she/they were working – i.e. the carer might be away for up to eight hours (but no more than four hours at any one time) in the 24-hour period.

24-hour house-sitting stays, which again cover a minimum 24-hour period but this time the carer will be away for no more than two hours in each 24-hour period.

Our services mean there is no need to put your pets in kennels or catteries, as your home and your animals are safe and secure in their own homes in our hands.  We can even water your plants. NB We don’t take other people’s animals into our own homes for any length of time.

You offer dog walking, how long are your walks with the dogs normally?

We guarantee that your dogs have between 40 minutes and one hour walks throughout the day. We also promise to walk only one owner’s dogs at a time, unless otherwise requested. For example, some of our customers like their dogs to be socialised with other dogs and if this is the case we ensure that they are walked with compatible dogs, whose company they enjoy. Some of our clients are also keen for our own dogs, like my chocolate Labrador Otto, to join their dogs when they are out walking. Otto and the other dogs owned by our carers are always happy to oblige.

How many dogs do you take on your walks or look after in their own homes?

On walks our carers each tend to walk between one and a maximum of three dogs each at a time. When we have looked after people’s dogs in their own homes we have catered for up to six dogs from the same household while their owner was away - when this is the case more than one CDPOM carer is in attendance.

You look after cats and other pets in their own homes, what is the benefit of this?

The advice from the Cats Protection League is that unless your cat is used to travelling, it's not a good idea to take him or her on holiday. Cats are territorial, and, according to the League, are happiest in familiar surroundings. So making arrangements for a carer from Cats, Dogs & Peace of Mind to look after your cat in his or her own home while you are away is not only a sound choice – it's what your cat would prefer. And a big bonus of leaving your much-loved pets in their own homes, to be looked after by CDPOM's thorough, professional loving carers, is that it's so simple, and takes the guilt out of going away and leaving your pets behind. To see what customers say about how their cats like being looked after in their own homes – rather than being taken to catteries – please have a look at our testimonials.

Do you offer any activities for the pets in your care? For example Kong toys, search exercises, etc?

Where possible we like to take our dogs where they can run free, play and socialise with other dogs. We are experts on London’s parks and open spaces. Our carers have toys with them and are always happy to use any equipment provided by customers. We all know how much our charges enjoy having fun, and if Otto or any of his colleagues are in attendance they are bound to make sure games are played.

How many pets do you have yourself and what are they?

All of CDPOM’s carers are animal lovers. They are led by founder and director Louise Wilsher, with her Chocolate Labrador, Otto (b.2002), and tabby cat, Cheeky (b 1994).

Mad Smith (seen above on the right in the picture with Louise on the left) and her daughter Michelle Campbell have three cats. Jasmine and Phoebe, who are both British Blues and very, very cheeky, and Wolfie a long hair Blue stray who adopted Mad and Michelle (see A good deed, is indeed the best medicine in news).

Eva Chesswas has a cat called Flower and two dog,  Daisy and Joe.

Jeremy Fenouillet has a Boxer dog called Betty and several cats back home in France.

Lita Allerton-Austin has had dogs in the past but has recently become the owner of a little kitten and two corn snakes.

Lisa Lobendhan has two gorgeous 9-year-old cats, brother and sister Barney and Jill, and a dog called Jade, who was rescued back in November 2006 and is settling in very well.
